In reply to your letter No: 29 of the 25th Ultimo, I am directed to inform you that His Excellency the Governor in Council is pleased to sanction preparing the Leases for the occupiers of those Lots of Land on the Queen's Road which were proposed by Major Aldrich to be included in the Cantonment, but which proposal has been negatived by the Instructions received from Her Majesty's Government. I am further directed to inform you that those leases are to be drawn up, and only granted, in accordance with the terms, both as to classification and rental, proposed by the Land Committee in their letter No: 12 and its Enclosures, of the 18th of January last, and which received the confirmation of His Excellency the Governor in Council as conveyed to them in my letter No: 30 of the 28th(?) January last.
